Delivering a baby is the most magical day in a women’s life. It is the greatest achievement in her life, but sometimes it is the hardest thing too. A woman passes through a lot of physical, mental and emotional struggles on her journey towards being a mom.
Postpartum blues and symptoms
During the first week after childbirth, many women experience a feeling of low mood and mildly depressed which is often called the “baby blues”. “Baby blues” are probably due to the sudden hormonal and chemical changes that take place in the body after childbirth. About 80% of mothers have baby blues in the weeks following childbirth. But if this same feeling persist beyond 2-3 weeks it is going to be a more serious problem called as post natal depression. The most commonly exhibiting features of which is low mood, anxiety and restlessness, emotional outburst for no reasons, difficulty in bonding with your baby, lack of enjoyment and loss of interest in the world around you. The incidence rate of postnatal depression is found to affect around 1 in 10 women following child birth.
Postpartum psychosis treatment
Reassurance, love, care and compassion are the best tools to help a mom from drowning in this psychological condition. This will help her to wade off the emotional and physical trauma she had undergone throughout the process of being a mom.
